odss jazz band

The ODSS Jazz Band is a local ensemble of budding (student) musicians from Orangeville District Secondary High School. This band rehearses once a week after school and loves to showcase their efforts for local events. There are also a handful of adult members who volunteer their time and talent to support this youthful group. Many musicians have had their start in this ensemble and have gone on to play with many other bands. This group plays contemporary hits dressed in a jazz arrangement, Motown favourites, as well as the standards. Influenced by Downchild, Powder Blues, Santana, Dwight Yoakam and Delbert McClinton to name a few, Honeywood’s style differentiates by taking blues and country rock and mixing them into their own flavour and drive. The result is a lot of fun stuff.

Jazz Society Band @ TD Local Stars Tent
Jun 3 @ 1:05 pm

jazz society

The Orangeville Jazz Society is proof that large community music events like the Orangeville Blues and Jazz Festival promote and foster the development of music at the local level. The Society was formed 5 years ago, after local jazz musicians found themselves often on stage at the OBJF with like minded individuals. The idea that there should be a forum within which they can develop and nurture their skills was born. Under the direction of local jazz virtuoso Ryan Grist, the group’s songbook includes jazz standards, vocal stylings and original material from in-house arranger Cam Millar.
